Electrical Systems Engineer

As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical systems in rail vehicle projects. You will ensure that projects are completed meeting quality requirements, schedule milestones, and all internal and external specifications.

Duties:

  • Integrate the electrical systems on a rail vehicle.
  • Design innovative solutions that improve quality, performance, reliability or reduce costs.
  • Create system requirement specifications for rail vehicle system components.
  • Provide technical support to, and ensure that suppliers’ products comply with the system requirement specification and meet quality and schedule.
  • Support design engineers in developing circuit diagrams.
  • Create, evaluate and process Engineering Change Orders (ECNs).
  • Develop safety analysis and risk assessments of subsystems and complete systems.
  • Implement EMC mitigation measures during the construction process.
  • Create procedures and performing system tests to ensure compliance with the customer specification.
  • Oversee electrical assembly and commissioning activities during the construction of the rail vehicles and perform field tests, warranty & service support on your assigned projects as required (travel or temporary relocation required).
  • Assist in the development of proposal documents for rail vehicle projects.
  • Design, implement, maintain, or improve electrical instruments, equipment, components, products, or systems for commercial, industrial purposes.
  • Direct or coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.
  • Compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential electrical engineering studies or projects.
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, or installation standards or specifications.
  • Prepare specifications for purchases of materials or equipment.
  • Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational, safety, or environmental standards.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related area.
  • Professional experience in electrical systems engineering or similar position.
  • Fluent in the English language (oral and written) and willingness to learn German (preferred)
  • Purposeful and result-oriented communicator.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, CAD programs, etc.)
  • Ability to learn and evaluate results from simulation programs.
  • Team player with ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel.
